U14 New Forest Cup
Botley Youth 0 - 8 Corfe Mullen Utd Juniors
A 'Goal of the season' contest seals passage into cup 1/4 final
The girls' began the match as clear favourites and were quickly into their stride. The first sight of goal saw Olivia shoot cleanly although straight at the Botley goalkeeper. Within 10 minutes smart control from Aila saw her fire low into the corner of the net (1-0). Minutes later another Liv effort grazed the outside of the post as the momentum built. A stunning turn and shot high into the goal from fully 25 yards from Emily doubled the lead (2-0). Kat was next to try her luck, then Tilly, both times the Botley GK saving well. Emily shone in midfield linking well with Liv, Aila, Tilly and Katrina, this combination of players creating chance after chance. After shooting narrowly wide and firing just over from a free kick, another classy drive from the right boot of Emily increased the score (3-0). Shortly before the break, fantastic technique from Tilly enabled her to keep the ball down and fire her volley into the heart of the Botley goal (4-0). The girls' defence was immaculate all match although a swift break from the hosts saw a fierce shot well turned away by Brooke who kept good concentration levels all day in the Corfe goal. Hayley marshalled her troops well at the centre of defence vocally encouraging all around her in her role as captain. Backed up well by the impressive Kelly on the left and the always consistant play of Steph on the right hand side the girls' took a clean sheet into the half time break. A special mention also to Regan trying hard to find her feet in the side after a rough week of illness. HT 4-0
A change of formation made for an even better start to the second half, a chance by Kelly screaming wide after great work from Chanel, Liv and Katrina. The girls' began to dominate, going close on numerous occasions through Tilly, Kat and Steph amongst others. The lead was again increased with Chanel firing into the roof of the net , another clinical finish (5-0). Sandwiched between Tilly heading against the post and Aila striking the crossbar came Emily's hat-trick goal, another stunning strike after classy footwork in the penalty area (6-0), this hat-trick will not be bettered in any level of football, anywhere this weekend. Another sweet strike from Tilly (7-0) gave her a deserved brace of goals on the day. The best goal however was saved until last, the superb Emily showing great vision and technique from outside the area to clip the ball over the poor host GK who unbelievably did nothing wrong all day (8-0).
In summary, a fantastic display from the whole team with eight incredible goals and a clean sheet to show for thier efforts against a hard working Botley team. Nice one ladies!
